Alyssa A. Cimino, Esq.

Ms. Cimino graduated from Rutgers, NCAS in 1999 and Seton Hall University School of Law in 2004. Ms. Cimino then served as law clerk to the Hon. Dennis M. Cavanaugh, United States District Judge, District of New Jersey.  Prior to starting her own law practice in 2010, Ms. Cimino worked at one of New Jersey’s largest law firms, where she specialized in Bankruptcy and Commercial Litigation.  Ms. Cimino is admitted to the bars of New Jersey and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
 

Ms. Cimino’s bankruptcy practice includes the representation of Chapter 7 debtors and the defense of adversary proceedings. She has counseled corporations and individuals on the advantages and disadvantages of filing for bankruptcy protection, and has represented them in related matters.   Ms. Cimino also has significant experience protecting creditors’ interests against debtors, such as filing  proof of claims and judgments.  In addition, Ms. Cimino has handled numerous foreclosures in connection with pending bankruptcy actions.

Ms. Cimino’s commercial practice regularly includes matters involving contract disputes, insurance coverage, fraud, tortious interference with economic opportunities, and misappropriation of assets.  In addition to litigating significant matters, Ms. Cimino routinely advises business owners about their rights and works with them to obtain cost effective resolutions to complex problems.  Ms. Cimino has handled incorporations, dissolutions, insurance disputes, and has successfully defended and prosecuted collection matters under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.  She has also represented individuals, corporate clients, and public entities in municipal matters, including property tax appeals. In her federal criminal practice, Ms. Cimino has defended individuals charged with violations of the Federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), drug trafficking offenses, illegal gambling and extortion, selling and receiving stolen property and other conspiracy charges.

Ms. Cimino is a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, the Essex County Bar Association, and the Historical Society of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.  She is also a Barrister of the New Jersey Bankruptcy Inn of Court.
Ms. Cimino devotes much of her free time to judging appellate arguments for law students at Seton Hall University School of Law, the Vincent J. Apruzzese Mock Trial Competition for high school students and participates in Essex County Law Day for grade school students.

As an active member of her community, Ms. Cimino is a member of the Wayne Volunteer Organization Active in Disaster (VOAD) an organization created to assist Wayne Township’s residents and business community with various insurance and flood related matters arising from Hurricane Irene.   Ms. Cimino currently serves as the Business Liaison for VOAD.  

Outside the legal profession, Ms. Cimino is an adjudicator for indoor color guard competitions, high school band competitions, and conducts national educational clinics for aspiring judges.
